What a GREAT sailing trip... Not quite the first bareboat charter we ever did (Benecia, Catalina, etc.) but by far the most exotic and "tropical"...
I knew we were going to be "off the grid" from the moment we started our descent towards the tiny "airstrip" in Placencia (complete with an intersection where cars had to wait for planes to come & go). And the walk through "town" (if you can call it that) was awesome (especially the ice cream!).
With the exception of one incident involving a coral reef ('nuff said), it was an unmitigated success. I still remember all the snorkelling, the fabulous tropical islettes, and the non-stop eating & drinking. So much fun BBQ'ing away at sunset with the water lapping at the side of the boat, with hardly anyone else in sight.
I give Moorings two-thumbs-up for great service both at the dock, over the radio, and even underway as the occasional repair was required.
Oustanding trip, Dad! (and Lety, Christine, Andrea, Scott, & Amy)
