Let there be no mistake, Brian Singer shoots some pretty film. Valkrye was an entertaining film with some outstanding performances from outstanding actors, Tom Cruise didn't ruin it for me either.... If you dig WWII era films, and specifically WWII history (as opposed to war action in and of it self), this is probably for you. I dig that stuff, so I liked the film, even though I suspect the history is used rather loosely here.
The movie did stress me out however. Even though I knew the final outcome, I couldn't help but want the plan to succeed and for them to kill Hitler. That friction between what I knew what I wanted to happened, and what I knew happened against a backdrop of high drama that makes you want them to succeed as well, made me a bit frantic.
It would be interesting to see an alternate ending where they do kill the SOB and end the war. Hell, if you are going to stretch the truth, why not go for the gold!

And Tom Cruise didn't ruin it for you? I'm a little nervous about that - he just seems so miscast.
86 weeks agothat's definitely my biggest concern, but I'm gonna do it tomorrow anyway, along with Quantum of Solace and Slumdog Millionaire. We've got the times and locations all mapped out. Can't wait!
86 weeks agoWhat about Grand Torino? Or Benjamin Button?
86 weeks agoOh, he is certainly miscast. Liam Neeson would have nailed this role, and this movie would move into the great category with him I think. You go into this knowing it is Cruise, so I guess I got over it pretty fast, but those opening lines in his accent, or lack there of, are certainly not so good.
86 weeks ago@ Hugo - As much as I like Clint Eastwood, Gran Torino looks painfully predictable. I'll wait to catch that one at home. Benjamin Button is on the list, but didn't make the cut for today. maybe tomorrow.
86 weeks agoThx for the review. Kristi and I are planning on seeing this tomorrow along w/ Slumdog Millionaire and some other stuff. The kids are going w/ the grandparent to visit other family in Oklahoma, so we're planning on a movie marathon!
87 weeks agoNice, and you're welcome. I should stress the movie is not GREAT. but i thought it was very good, and sinks in move as time elapses since seeing it. I like Brian Singer, so I just love the visuals,
