We had just flew back from our trip that included Kenya that morning and made it home in time to watch the inauguration on TV.
We sat on the couch and enjoyed the entire ceremony and were speechless during the entire speech. During the parade portion, I had to get up and leave, as I was so nervous when he got out of the car.
It was really cool being in Africa before this event and seeing all the support everywhere for Obama. This inauguration is so much bigger then just a US event this time.
Here, here! I have a feeling we'll see a march on Washington that will surpass the MLK event. Also, the fact that Obama will be welcomed to the White House on Monday, November 10th affords him an unprecedented readiness to orchestrate and plan for the volume of people.
That's the pre-Super Bowl reason to get your 65" LCD baby!
The election was the precursor, but the inauguration is when it becomes real. I can't wait. It's historical, but it's also something I didn't think could really happen two years ago. I was so pessimistic and cynical about the political process then, it's amazing how much my attitude has changed since the process began. I really have hope for the future. A lot of my hope is probably unreasonable, but if even a small part of it is justified, the future is going to be brighter.
I plan to take part in the Sproul Plaza festivities, but even if I have to watch a tape-delayed broadcast on the evening news, it will be a very special moment.
This is a huge step forward for our Nation and a truly historic event. I will be watching and I will ensure that my kids watch also.
It still feels like a dream to have the candidate I supported before he was even running actually become the President. I'm sorry he has to inherit such a mess, but I've never been more proud to be an American and see the corrective power of democracy in action.
We're planning to wake up early, get some fancy donuts and coffee and watch the action happen on the big screen at home with our neighbors.
yes we can, did, will!
The flood of people celebrating in this city is mind boggling-- these are amazing days!
Susan and Sol were there in person, so Lucian, Kiran, Zain and I watched together at home.
Like the long awaited train pulling into the station. I missed it during the 2004 Democratic Convention when he spoke, but I had not missed a moment of Barack Obama the candidate. It was a long road coming, one that gave me plenty of time to research all aspects of this campaign as I never had before. The result was my switch from Republican to Democrat just so I could throw my hat into the ring of hope.

what I love about innagurations, or this innaguration is the collective experience of the transition. The ceremony and the pride is not about one person it is about all of us. This does not last, but for at least that day, that morning, we are the people of the United States if America, looking to form a more perfect union.

I slept in until 10, just glad that the recent nightmare is ending. At times, I really thought I would never wake up....
60 weeks agoI just went to : http://www.whitehouse.gov/administration/president_obama/
It is such a relief to see that. It makes me smile.
Seriously... I mean, the first President to have a computer, email, and a website to disseminate information to the public... and it's 2009? Hard to believe but so relieved we're finally here!

60 weeks agoWhaa? That's incredible... what an opportunity. Take lots of pictures, Sol!
60 weeks agoThey're going to broadcast it on a big screen in Sproul Plaza. I can't think of a better place to watch it... well, other than DC.
61 weeks agowow, perfect. are you going to be up here?
61 weeks agoI'm trying. Technically, it would make more sense at work for me to come up the following week (1/26), but I neither want to fly to the Bay Area twice in two weeks nor live out of a suitcase for ten days. So, for the first time in history, I'm asking to turn in my projects early. If it fits with my coworkers' schedules, I'm totally there.
61 weeks agoIts an awesome reality. My wedding anniversary is the day before... Almost too much for the senses!
