Arrivo! During our flight I noticed the couple sitting in front of us was looking at the directions to the hotel provided with the Rick Steve's tour information. Turns out they were on the same tour, so we partnered up to make our way via water bus from Marco Polo Airport to Venice. Upon arrival, we strolled along the Canali di San Marco, through Piazza San Marco and lunched at Bierra Feast. The house vino rosso was quite good. We then walked to the Hotel Serenisimo and, after checking in, promptly fell asleep for a couple of hours.
After napping, we had a long stroll down to Piazza San Marco and explored the general area. Ellen was on a quest for travel shield charms. She finally located a shop which had some and learned they are no longer made and so have become collector's items. Later we dined on Pizza Genovesa, Zuppa Pesce, Insalata Promodora, insalta mista and Chianti. After dinner we ate gelato from "The American Bar" while strolling through the piazza listening to "The Sound of Music" played by the live cafe orchestra of Cafe Florian.
