This moment made me feel
Jules and I went backpacking in Point Reyes over two nights.
Over our 20+ miles of hiking, we visited Arch Rock, Alamere Falls, and Ocean Lake. The first night we stayed at Wildcat Camp. It is only a few hundred feet from the ocean and has a great view of the sunset. There was a pretty intense thunderstorm on that first night that lit up our tent like a flashbulb and shook the ground.
The second night we stayed at Glen Camp which is situated more inland and in the middle of a forested area. The camp sites there were a little closer together and we could hear our neighbors jabbering away into the night. But we were up, fed and packed before anyone except one other camper was awake.
While Jules and I were alone on the trail most of the time, we crossed paths with a dozen or so other backpackers and a half dozen horseback riders. We also saw quite a few day hikers and runners. It was a big difference from the deserted Snow Mountain Wilderness. The trails in Point Reyes are all well maintained and the junctions all have easy to understand signs with destinations and milage. You would have a hard time getting lost in Point Reyes.
