At my Orange County high school, Homecoming Queen was supposed to go to one of the uber cute daughters of the popular National Charity League families, not to the daughter of the clueless-to-this-weird-custom Armenian immigrants from Lebanon. But it was the year of the nerd vote, and there was some serious confusion in the parent section of the stands when my name was called. My mom thought she was going to get beat up.
The pinnacle of an Armenian immigrant family's rise up the social ladder of Orange County...my sister the Queen!

As a daughter in National Charity League, it was a glorious moment indeed. I was lucky to be on the field for the whole thing. Chag- the next time I'm back in the OC, I'll see if those negatives still exist. You should have better copies of your crowning glory.
