This moment made me feel
I woke up at about 3 AM, still on California time, but was able to quickly go back to sleep, only to be awakened at 6:30 am by the crew doing some renovation across the piazza from us.
We had a continental breakfast at the hotel and then strolled south across the Academy Bridge and ending up at the Guggenheim, where we lunched at the Cafe Musseo before walking back to the hotel to meet the rest of the tour group. After introductions we took an orientation stroll around the neighborhood including an introduction to Piazza San Marco. The group dined together followed by prosecco in Piazza San Marco before returning to the hotel.

October is also on the shoulder of the tourist population curve and the weather is still nice, I think.
42 weeks ago1. It was early in the tourist season - it will be interesting to see Linda and Carrey's photos as they are going at the peak of the season.
42 weeks ago2. Tourist travel was down due to the (relatively) poor exchange rate
3. We were strolling around on our own and not necessarily at major tourist traps (except Piazza San Marco)
4. I wanted photos of Venice, not crowds of strangers, and waited for opportunities or framed photos accordingly. For example, the Guggenheim was quite busy and crowded, but I managed to get shots without crowds.
Well, if I ever make it out there, I guess I'll have to go in April. Not a big fan of crowds.
