It was the regional championship game and we were down 2-1 with five minutes left. I was playing left defender and we were on the attacking half of the field. I think their goal keeper cleared the ball and it was coming in my direction. I went up for the header at the same time as their player did. I got the ball, he got my face.
I remember feeling my nose after the collision and I could tell it was broken. Then I sat down on the field on blood poured from my nose.
It happened on the side of the field that my parents were sitting on. I'm sure they were horrified.
After they stopped the game I walked across the field with my coach to our bench. Then my parents walked me to the parking lot. On the way I heard the whistle blow to end the game.
I went to the hospital where they referred me to some nose guy. We went there and he rebroke my nose. That wasn't pleasant. I remember bleeding on my shirt.
I missed the North Coast Sectional playoffs.

I always appreciated that you sat down with your back to the sideline so Mom didn't see all the blood.
