This year's wildflower hunt was a success! There were a bunch of different flowers in bloom while we were there and the weather was perfect. A typical day on the chimney rock trail is windy and chilly but today I didn't even have to wear my jacket. I got by with a long sleeved shirt.
First we made our obligatory stop at the Drake's Bay oyster farm to pick up some treats for later. Then we stopped at Drake's Beach to eat lunch and board the shuttle to the chimney rock trail. They run the shuttle on the weekends during peak whale watching season because the roads are narrow and the parking lots are small.
While we saw over a dozen different flowers out, the highlight for me was seeing so many Calochortus everywhere. In the past I've only seen a couple but this year they were everywhere.
Can't wait to go again next year.
