We went up to Sierra to kick off this season with Luis! I had never been to Sierra, so it was all new to me and I really enjoyed the long runs and of course the fresh 6" they just got.
We spent a bunch of time in the trees, with Luis teaching us the finer points of navigating through them without getting killed.
The highlight of the day was him telling me to hit these big piles of snow at full speed and I would just plow right through, slow down and be able to make some nice turns on the other side. I listened and let it rip. I braced myself to go through a waist deep mound, but instead it turned out to be an ankle deep mound on top of rock and I just launched out of there into the trees. Of course since I was not expecting it, so I landed it perfectly, made a turn or two and then fell, only because I was turning around to yell at Luis. He was laughing so hard and just telling me that he said to hit the "other" mound.
I don't know if he was joking or not, but it was a great moment and we laughed about it for the rest of the day.
We managed to take some video with the Flip camera, mostly by putting it in the strap of Luis helmet and following him.
Enjoy.
